rotating 8up paceline

A fun 8up rotating paceline was exactly what the coach ordered tonight. Sustained 26mph speedwork in a tight group is exactly what I need. Tore around the north shore and had a good ol time. Definately need more work like this. Thanks to everyone involved for keeping it smooth and keeping it together. No other club I know of is this smooth.

Took a cruise on the yet unnamed tin boat today down the river and out into essex. Low tide on the way out. PG, JG, AG, JL, CL, CF all present for the fun. Hooked up with WT , MT and her bf K. Howling sustained winds did not dampen the fun and relaxation enjoyed out on the high seas. Working on my captain-manship; still have a ways to go; started off by connecting the fuel line backwards (oops) and had a few sloppy docking maneuvers. Was able to anchor on a sandbar and that was fun. Definately looking forward to more high seas adventures.

LAMB

What a fantastic ride put together by the KPCC folks. An amazing route of suffering, beauty, new friends and old friends. My gps recorded 72 miles and over 6200 vertical feet of elevation gained. Great weather, great people, great riding. Went up with JH and we were quite late having gotten a late start. We rolled into Rochester at 9:25 (ouch). Not knowing the route and having invested the drive we set out to catch. After querying some of the locals, we got ourselves oriented and decided if we can’t catch anyone by the top of Lincoln we would turn around and pedal around in the valley. We TTed at LT to the top of Lincoln gap and caught the group just leaving. Another 30 seconds and we would have missed them completely. What luck. So we were able to do the LAMB chop and what a great time it was. Ended up doing the last 16 mi with Chet the ride organizer. Nice guy. In years previous I chose racing over this ride, but no longer.

Did a fun ride w/CL, JF, & KN. Started at Loon mtn parking lot, over the Kankamangus Highway over to Bear Notch Road, over to N. Conway, West Side Road, back to Kank, back to Loon. 77 mi, lots of climbing; great weather; great paceline on flats. Fun ride. Legs feel blasted.

kowloon lounge band

Had the privildge of eating bad Chinese food and watching a struggling lounge act try and entertain about 250 Wakefield 8th graders on their ‘last dance’ social. Oh the comedy. Somehow they pulled it off by picking some cross generation music: “Last Dance” – Gloria Gaynor and other disco tunes were the big hit. I was a bit surprised that many of the 8th graders knew all the words. Behold the Gnapster generation.

Saw an auto crash in front of me this morning. A women in a brand new grey Lincoln Continental ahead of me was hit by a women on a cellphone who while merging onto the road only looked the other way. Unbelievable. The eerie part about it was the fact that the fairly minor low speed collision caused the woman in the Lincoln to lose control, cross the lane and hit a tree. She was not speeding and applied the brakes, but the collision was enough to change the cars trajectory. So it was a newton’s 2nd law refresher lab and a frightening remindet that tires have little power to correct for a drastic change in direction.

nice pair of TTs

Tonight CL and I did the ECV Time Trial and put in a couple of respectable improvements over the last TT. I took 1m out of my time and CL took 1:25 out of his(!) Nice. Bumped into MR; good to see him, as well as TD, JG, LB, SM, BG. GJ was also there taking snaps for the website. Definately a better warm up and some stretching helped this week. More training and a bit better warm up should improve the next effort. Its a tough year for racing for me with the early season injury and my current list of projects. I have to say though I’m having alot of fun riding around with my bro and doing TTs and training races. Next season watch out for the Langford 1-2 punch. :)
